    Mental Healthcare for Carers: We Support the Supporters! 

    October 10th is World Mental Health Day. 

    This year, the global theme, “Our Minds, Our Rights,” emphasises the universal right to access mental healthcare services as part of basic healthcare, which is considered one of our fundamental human rights. 

    Before, during, and after the pandemic, we saw how frontline healthcare workers experienced a significant burden of stress and burnout. In 2016, the Public and Community Engagement Department of OUCRU Vietnam conducted research on stress levels among healthcare workers at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City. The study found that 28% of healthcare workers experienced moderate to severe depression, and 38% experienced moderate to severe anxiety. Since then, we have shifted our focus to supporting healthcare workers and are now expanding our efforts to include carers in general. 

    On this year’s World Mental Health Day, we are proud to announce a live event in partnership with the Vietnam Psychotherapy Association and Medisetter, our media and communication partner. During this event, we will share research and opinions from experts and provide valuable knowledge and information focused on mental healthcare for carers in Vietnam. 

    Aligned with the global theme “Our Minds, Our Rights,” our goal is to raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being among healthcare professionals and highlight available avenues for support. 

    Event Highlights: 

    1. Keynote Speeches: Renowned mental health experts and professionals will deliver inspiring speeches highlighting the significance of mental healthcare for carers, as well as the city’s policies on this matter. 
    1. Panel Discussions: Engaging panel discussions will address various challenges faced by healthcare professionals in Vietnam and explore strategies to promote their mental well-being. 
    1. Networking Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to connect with like-minded professionals, exchange experiences, and build a dedicated support network.

  • Collab Lab đã quay trở lại vá»›i nhiều chủ đề hấp dẫn dành cho giá»›i trẻ

    Collab Lab do nhóm Đại Sứ Kết Nối với Khoa Học thực hiện dưới sự điều phối của nhóm Kết Nối với Thanh Niên, phòng Kết Nối Khoa Học với Cộng Đồng và Công Chúng, OUCRU Việt Nam. Nhóm dự án đã làm việc với các nhà khoa học để tóm tắt, hoạt họa hóa giải thích ngắn gọn kết quả các nghiên cứu khoa học đã được xuất bản.

    Trong 5 video đầu tay, nhân vật chính của series, I-sà, đã giúp các bạn trẻ hiểu hơn về những vấn đề khoa học, y tế toàn cầu đang được giới trẻ quan tâm.

    Bên cạnh mục tiêu mang khoa học đến gần hơn với công chúng, đặc biệt là các bạn trẻ, Collab Lab còn thu thập phản hồi và đề xuất từ người xem. Nhiều nhà khoa học nhấn mạnh rằng các bạn trẻ góp phần quan trọng trong việc đánh giá được tính ứng dụng cũng như nâng cao giá trị thực tiễn cho những công trình nghiên cứu tiếp theo.

  • CÆ¡ há»™i hiếm có cho thanh niên: Làm cá»™ng tác viên tại dá»± án thuá»™c OUCRU 

    Cơ hội hiếm có cho thanh niên: Làm cộng tác viên tại dự án thuộc OUCRU 

    Collab Lab là dự án của Nhóm Đại Sứ Kết Nối Khoa Học (YSAs) phối hợp với các nhà khoa học hàng đầu từ OUCRU và một số trường đại học trên địa bàn TP. Hồ Chí Minh. Dự án được thành lập với mục tiêu “bình thường hóa” những nghiên cứu khoa học về các mối đe dọa sức khỏe toàn cầu, như các bệnh truyền nhiễm, kháng kháng sinh, sức khỏe tâm thần…. Thông qua chương trình, những nhà nghiên cứu tại OUCRU và các trường đại học mong muốn tạo không gian kích thích sự tò mò và mong muốn tìm hiểu sâu hơn về các chủ đề khoa học thú vị của các bạn trẻ trên khắp Việt Nam.

    Để đem dự án đến gần với nhiều thanh niên hơn đang theo học những chuyên ngành đa dạng hơn, Collab Lab 2023 sẽ mở ra cơ hội trở thành cộng tác viên cho nhiều bạn trẻ, gia nhập đội ngũ “ảo thuật gia” truyền thông sáng tạo. Chúng mình tìm kiếm những người có khả năng biến những bài nghiên cứu khoa học xa lạ thành những nội dung video hoạt hình có tính lan tỏa thú vị và hấp dẫn, nhằm mang những kiến thức hữu ích về sức khỏe tới gần hơn với giới trẻ.

    An interesting opportunity for young people to collaborate with OUCRU

    Collab Lab is a project of the Youth Science Ambassadors (YSAs) in collaboration with leading scientists from OUCRU and several universities in Ho Chi Minh City. The project aims to “normalise” scientific research on global health threats, such as infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, and mental health, to name a few. Through this project, researchers at OUCRU and universities hope to create a space that stimulates the curiosity and desire to learn more about interesting scientific topics among young people across Vietnam.

    To reach more young people from diverse academic backgrounds, Collab Lab 2023 will provide opportunities for many to join the creative team to do magic work, turning unfamiliar scientific topics into engaging animated video content that brings useful health knowledge closer to young people.

    If you:

    • Are interested in science and want to spread the value of research to the community 
    • Want to work with scientists at OUCRU and universities in Ho Chi Minh City 
    • Want to learn more about public and community engagement

    Kết nối công chúng trong các dự án nâng cao tỷ lệ tiêm vắc-xin tại OUCRU

    23 – 30 tháng 4 là Tuần Lễ Tiêm Chủng Thế Giới.

    Vắc-xin là biện pháp hiệu quả và tiết kiệm nhất để phòng chống bệnh tật. Đại dịch đã dẫn đến việc chậm trá»… trong việc tiêm chủng các vắc-xin cần thiết – 25 triệu trẻ em trên toàn thế giá»›i đã bỏ lỡ lịch vắc-xin trong năm 2021, theo WHO.

    Tại OUCRU, bên cạnh việc nghiên cứu và hợp tác trong nhiều dự án nghiên cứu vắc-xin, chúng tôi cũng cam kết tiến hành các hoạt động kết nối cộng đồng và giáo dục về vắc-xin.

    Trong Tuần Lễ Tiêm Chủng Thế Giới năm nay, hãy cùng chúng tôi điểm lại các dự án kết nối công chúng trong nỗ lực nâng cao nhận thức về vắc-xin và xây dựng năng lực cho nhân viên y tế tuyến đầu, đặc biệt ở các vùng nông thôn.

    Tại Nepal, đội ngũ OUCRU đã kết nối với các cộng đồng địa phương để hiểu hơn về quan điểm của họ về bệnh thương hàn, vắc-xin thương hàn, và các rào cản đối với tiêm chủng. Chúng tôi cũng làm việc với nhân viên y tế để nâng cao tỷ lệ tiêm vắc-xin và bảo đảm ai cũng có thể tiếp cận với dịch vụ tiêm vắc-xin. Một trong những hợp phần của dự án vắc-xin của OUCRU tại Nepal là kết nối cộng đồng và giáo dục về vắc-xin.

    Tại Việt Nam, dự án xây dựng năng lực của OUCRU tại Đắk Lắk mong muốn giúp các tình nguyện viên sức khỏe cộng đồng nâng cao kỹ năng và kiến thức liên quan đến tiêm vắc-xin và kết nối công chúng. Dự án bao gồm các buổi hội thảo và tập huấn trực tiếp, tập trung vào các kỹ năng giao tiếp, kiến thức về vắc-xin, và chiến lược kết nối công chúng hiệu quả.

    Public Engagement in vaccine uptake projects at OUCRU 

    23 – 30 April is World Immunisation Week.  

    Vaccines are the most effective and affordable way to prevent diseases. The pandemic led to a lag in immunisation for essential vaccines – 25 million children worldwide missed out on vaccination in 2021, according to WHO.  

    At OUCRU, in addition to research and collaborations on various vaccine projects, we are committed to public and community engagement and education around vaccines.  

    On World Immunisation Week this year, let us look at some engagement projects that help to raise awareness about vaccination and build the capacity for frontline healthcare workers, especially in rural areas. 

    In Nepal, the OUCRU team engages with local communities to understand their perceptions of typhoid fever and vaccines and barriers to vaccine uptake. They are also working with healthcare providers to increase vaccination rates and ensure that vaccines are accessible to all. One of the critical components of OUCRU’s project in Nepal is community engagement and education.

    In Vietnam, OUCRU’s capacity-building project in Dak Lak aims to improve the skills and knowledge of community health volunteers related to vaccine delivery and public engagement. The project includes workshops and hands-on training sessions mainly focused on communication skills, vaccine knowledge, and effective public engagement strategies.
