Dr Chung The Hao’s expertise is in bacterial genomics and phylogenetics; antimicrobial resistance; microbiome data analysis; anaerobic microbiology

Hao is a trained microbiologist who uses sequencing data to investigate how microbes evolve and interact with humans.

He is currently a Wellcome International Training Fellow at OUCRU, where he studies the microbiome dynamic of infectious diarrhoea diseases in children and colorectal cancer in adults.

His research also covers the genomic, epidemiology and evolutionary understanding of various human pathogens (Shigella, Salmonella, Klebsiella), beneficial gut commensal (Bifidobacterium), as well as cancer-promoting oncobacterium (Fusobacterium).
