Dr. Sabina Dongol, Head of Laboratories at OUCRU Nepal, brings over 20 years of expertise in clinical and research microbiology, specializing in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and advanced diagnostics. Over the years, she has contributed to a range of high-impact clinical trials, including multi-country studies on typhoid fever (ACT South Asia, STRATAA, TyVAC) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (REGARD-VAP, VAP). Through these collaborations, she has honed expertise in clinical trial operations and diagnostic research. Dr. Dongol leads the MODRA-funded Serodiagnosis Study, utilizing Luminex technology to improve enteric fever diagnostics and evaluating point-of-care rapid diagnostic tests to support timely, accurate clinical decisions. She engages clinicians in focus groups to assess how validated diagnostics enhance evidence-based treatment, laying the groundwork for informed policy advocacy. Her leadership in laboratory systems ensures quality assurance across OUCRU’s collaborating hospitals. Through mentorship and policy engagement, she is committed to strengthening Nepal’s public health landscape.
